This Website -- Now and in the Future

As of now, this website contains a small sampling of my work. Please check back regularly, as I will be adding many more photos, sections on choosing or designing patterns and color schemes for a variety of decorator needs and situations, and much more. For now, I need to post this simple site and get back to designing and making stained glass!

But if you have any questions that need answering now, please telephone or send me an Email.

Varieties of Stained Glass Works

My stained glass works of art range from items smaller than my 6 inch Hummingbird Suncatchers to Architectural Panels much larger than my 3 foot wide Half-Moon Transoms. (Examples of these two types grace the banner at the top of each of my web pages.)

Shown in my Website are representative samples of sidelights (my most popular larger product), transoms, and large, medium and small hangings or panels. The smallest works are commonly called 'suncatchers'. But any item that is not actually installed into a wall, as sidelights and transoms are, can be hung in a suitably sized window, from a porch overhead, or as a room divider indoors. Only imagination, the strength of the support, and the available light limit the design, glass choice, and placement of stained glass. And it's not all that heavy!

Sidelights

Sidelights are generally tall, narrow stained glass panels installed on either side of the front door to a home. Occasionally there is only one. Often the glass is selected with an eye to privacy, while still allowing light in. By using only small amounts of color along with clear glass with an interesting texture, the sidelight's color will not dominate, but will fit into any decor.

A pair of sidelights about 5 feet tall. The main glass is actually clear -- I photographed them against an extraordinarily blue sky, with the sun striking the back. This panel could be a sidelight or a transom (if turned horizontal) or it could be hung in a large window either way. About 42 inches high. One of 10 sidelight elements (5 on each side of the door), each with slightly different top & bottom glass. Each element is about 5 X 12 inches. One of a pair of sidelights. They go with an equally elegant transom, and each is about 15 x 35 inches in size.

Transoms

Transoms are simply windows over doors. Transoms sometimes tilt open for ventilation. Their main function is allowing light in. By using only small amounts of color along with clear glass with an interesting texture, the transom's color will not dominate, but will fit into any decor.

I use this transom design in my logo and have made it in several color combinations and sizes -- this one is 3 feet wide.

One of a set of three matching transoms designed to coordinate with a pre-existing beveled glass door panel. There were two of this design. It's made of several types of textured clear glass, as well as some fancy bevels. This one is 12 x 36 inches.

Bookcase or Cabinet Doors

Bookcase doors, china cabinet doors, kitchen cabinet doors, and the doors of cabinets holding keepsakes all can be complemented by stained glass panels. In these cases, glass selection in influenced by how much of the contents you want to see. You can even put cool light sources inside the cabinets to show off the colored glass, when you want to hide the contents.

These are bookcase doors, about 3 feet tall. There are actually two pairs, each pair a little different from the other. Designed in teamwork with my client. [Actually I only photographed one, but I used my image prep program to reverse it and add it to the original, so you could see the final effect. I also messed with the shadow to make it look more natural.] Designed in teamwork with my client.

Fleur-de-lis

A classic design, the fleur-de-lis, which means flower of the lily, can be interpreted in many ways. Here are a few.

Birds

I make many varieties of hummingbirds, but for now I can only show you these two, in addition to the one on the banner at the top of the page. They range from about 6 inches to 10, though I certainly could make them almost any size on request. Look for many more to be shown in the future, as thay are among my most popular items. I just don't have the photos ready today.

Mounted in black glass, this bird is designed to be installed in a wall that gets the morning sun. In a dimly lit room, it is a wonderful sight when you first awaken! About 9 inches in diameter. Designs Based on Arcs of Circles

I could write many paragraphs about these designs and their development, but I just don't have time now. Their captions tell a little, and I'll write more in the future. In the meantime, think waves.
Place the cursor over each photo to read the caption.

A elegantly simple design based on arcs of circles. I can make it in your choice of colors if desired. This one is about 10 inches in diameter, but I can make it in almost any size. This arc based design is 10 1/2 inches wide. but I have made it, using different colors, as wide as 2 feet.
An arc based design only 9 inches in diameter, this hanging epitomizes simple elegance. This arc based design is quite large -- 26 inches across -- and combines three shades of purple with square bevels in the border and hourglass bevels in the center. Due to bevel availability, I can only make this design in particular sizes: 17, 26, 34, 52 inches in diameter, and multiples thereof.
Arc based designs can be quite complex. This example uses only window glass, but could be colored in many ways. It is about 17 inches wide but could be almost any size.

I just haven't categorized these yet, as I'm working against a deadline and I just don't have the time right now. Look again in the future!!

A flower panel with wonderfully intense color. About 15 inches square. The classic octagon & diamond design is used here in a privacy window, one of four I made. The main panes are a ripple-textured glass. I have tested several types of clear textured glass -- the ripple glass gives the most privacy. Sidelights also often use this ripple glass to banish the 'fishbowl' effect. Each of these windows is about 45 inches tall.

    Webpage Hints

          1. To read a long message on the little yellow balloons that appear when you place your mouse cursor over a picture, slightly move the mouse every few seconds. This will prevent the message from disappearing before you've finished reading it. If you lose it anyway, move the mouse cursor off the picture, then after a few seconds move it back on.
